Restoring Compassion
in Mental Health
Let’s Build a Brighter Future Together, One Trusting Step at a Time
Meet Dr. Bogdahn
With a combined 38 years as both a social worker and clinical psychologist, I bring a deep commitment to providing comprehensive mental health services, including assessment and diagnostic testing utilizing the most current and advanced protocol. After establishing my practice here in Mt. Vernon and the surrounding areas, I have become increasingly aware that our community would greatly benefit from compassionate and skilled mental health services and care.
In recent years, I have heard stories from clients who have expressed disappointment while encountering cold and unresponsive services when seeking the professional mental health support they need – often experiencing a cycle of brief and ineffective care plans based on outdated diagnostics. My goal is to address this gap and provide the thorough, committed care that the community needs and deserves.

Bringing Compassion Back to Mental Health
With extensive experience in treating addiction, fetal alcohol and drug impacts on development, Autism Spectrum and related disorders, and conducting neuro screens and comprehensive psychological assessments as a state and federal disability examiner, I bring a depth of understanding to complex diagnostic formulations, child custody evaluations, individual and couples psychotherapy.
My approach goes beyond the typical therapy session. I am deeply committed to advocacy, actively developing care teams for my patients and building essential community services that draw on my years of experience and knowledge.
In 2013, I developed the Window of Hope program, inspired by my work in the 1980s with Helping Hands Hawaii. This initiative focused on providing outreach and shelter for pregnant women struggling with addiction in Hilo, Hawaii, and building vital relationships with the Hilo Hospital birthing center. My goal was to reduce the long-term impact of drugs and alcohol on future generations. I personally funded and rehabilitated the shelter, designed the program, and hope that in the future, younger providers and stakeholders will continue to build on this important work.
